St. Francis of Assisi, Mandaluyong
Ever since Megamall opened, my family and I would always pass by St. Francis Church, the one beside Lourdes School of Mandaluyong, as we going home. Inside our car, I would just be left wondering what it looked like. On Sundays, I would see cars parked along St. Francis St., sometimes even occupying a lane or two along the street's islands.
One Sunday, I had the chance to finally hear the Holy Mass here. After watching a movie alone in Shang, I went for a 7:30 PM Mass.
Upon entering, I noticed a serene ambiance. There weren't a lot of people when I came in so I was able to select a seat which was right under one of the parish's electric fans. After a few minutes, more people started to fill the empty seats but when Mass started, there were still a lot of spaces to fill.
I had a good time listening to the Word of God until at one point, I saw a huge bee on the shirt of the lady in front of me while we were standing up. I was hoping she would crush it as she sits back down but to no avail. I couldn't concentrate, I was thinking of how to tell her without making her freak out. But as the time passed by, the bee went to her neck, stung it to my horror, and the lady slapped the bee and stepped on it when it fell. I think it stung her finger, too. I felt so bad I asked God to forgive me for not telling her sooner.
Even with a heavy heart due to the bee incident, I felt happy with the Mass. I walked around the Church to pray and look at the statues of saints around.
When I walked out, there were youth handing out flyers and I knew they were from SFC. I spoke with a brother and asked about their CLP there. Turned out our chapter is one week ahead of them. :) I said my goodbye and looked back inside the Church.
I was glad I had finally entered and celebrated the Mass at St. Francis.
